INTRODUCING THE "CRICKET CLIP"

Our paint line assist tools, designed to hold vehicle doors, deck lids, fuel doors, and trunk lids in position during the e-coat and paint process, were developed by PTM in 1994.  By 1996 we saved our first two clients a cool million when they switched from old style fixture paint tools to our Cricket Clips!  Today we are supplying or developing paint assist tools for nearly 70% of North American car assembly operations - 12 different OEM's! We produce approximately 10 million paint tools every year.  We don't want to brag, but we know paint tools!

PTM Corporation is an innovative leader in paint tool designs for OEM assembly plants across the globe. Our engineering group work directly with the client to fully understand their processing goals. This enables us to design and develop the right tool for the application. Beginning with initial design concept, through final tool build, and production, our team of professionals will help you solve...

  • Body damage upon tool removal

  • Poor holding capacity due to inferior designs

  • Slow installation speeds

  • Fixure down time due to cleaning

  • Tool cost issues

We understand making a process change from fixture style tools to our Cricket Clips can be a huge challenge.  Our team will prototype any new design so that it can be thoroughly tested before making any process changes.  Potential production costs and piece price estimates can then be generated so the ROI on the change can be determined.  Our goal is to maximize the efficiency and productivity of our client’s team!

What’s up with the name?

You are no doubt wondering by now, where the name Cricket Clip originated.   While some may think our clips look like an insect, the truth is much simpler.   While touring the assembly plant at one of our early clients, the line workers kept referring to the tools as Crickets Clips.  Being curious types, we finally had to ask why they were calling them that.  We were told to “listen”… Sure enough, as the car bodies bounced down the assembly line, the clips were making a noise similar to that of a common cricket!  They have been known by that name since.

If your process requires the use of prop tool type fixtures, no worries as we make thousands of those each year as well.  If you are currently not a PTM Corporation paint tool client, give us a call today and put the best paint tool team in the business to work for your operation!
